Masseter muscle hypertrophy occurs as a soft enlargement of the jaw muscles near the angle of the lower jaw.
In some individuals, the swelling can be associated with pain or may be so large that it causes facial disfigurement and squaring of the lower face. Causes of masseter muscle hypertrophy commonly include “teeth grinding or bruxism”.
Injections of botulinum toxin type A directly into the muscle is a great treatment option to reduce the size of the jaw muscle and therefore give the jaw a more “rounded” appearance.
In addition to eliminating pain and tension in the jaw, this provides a very aesthetically pleasing result and is a highly sought after aesthetic procedure.

Melasma is a common skin problem. It causes brown to gray-brown patches, usually on the face. Most people get it on their cheeks, bridge of their nose, forehead, chin, and above their upper lip. It also can appear on other parts of the body that get lots of sun exposure, such as the forearms and neck.
Women are far more likely than men to get melasma. It is so common during pregnancy that melasma is sometimes called “the mask of pregnancy.” Often the discoloration persists beyond childbirth which is a common reason why women seek treatment with aesthetic procedures. Hormones have been found to trigger melasma.
